I have been thinking about entering this contest ever since RuthieK mentioned it. I am working on a capsule for summer anyway and so it was pretty timely. But the twist this year is to enter an existing item from the wardrobe which at least two of the mini wardrobe items must be able to be worn with. I suddenly realised that my capsule was rather dark and dingy and needed a pop of colour... which I wasn't managing to find in my stash and was struggling to find in my wardrobe. Open wardrobe or stash cupboard and you are faced with a wall of dark colours. I hadn't noticed until RuthieK mentioned it, but she is right and I am determined to add more colour to my wardrobe and be more adventurous.
Tonight, I found a lovely length of silk I had forgotten all about. My gran had brought this from China for me more than fifteen years ago and it made a perfect accent colour... and went with the print skirt I was intending to make. But could I find something in the closet to use as my existing item?? No, at least not until tonight.... Mum rang and I was complaining about not having something and not being able to enter the exciting contest etc, etc. And she just says "What about that linen skirt you never wear cos it goes with nothing?" And lo and behold it is a perfect match for silk, and goes well with the other blouse I had planned. And so, voila, here is my storyboard for the contest. I haven't entered yet but all the items on the board are things I was going to make anyway and it fits the criteria for the contest, so I think I will sign up for the fun tomorrow.

I've actually already started my first item, the Marfy blouse with the altered sleeves. I didn't cut this out until Monday 4th May, so its within the rules to submit it.

Oh that's lovely. The Marfy patterns have such great details and you carry them off so well. I am really looking forward to seeing them completed :-)
