I've been working on the jacket all day today but I think its quite close to being right at long last. I just need mum to check that the back is OK. I can see a wrinkle in the upper back but I am twisting around to see it in the mirror, so it may not be there if I was standing properly.
I had to make a second muslin today because whilst I was messing with the sleeves on the first one, I realised that part of the reason the jacket was not quite comfortable was because I hadn't added length between bust and waist... the waistline seam was sitting at the bottom of my ribcage not on my waist... why I didn't notice that before, I don't know. I've been working on the jacket for days and only notice it today. So I am not going to say its right, or finished because who knows? I may get up in the morning and find it doesn't fit at all and have to start again. I think gremlins get in there at night and undo all my work and make changes to my muslins so they become uncomfortable.
Anyway, the jacket itself is now on hold for a bit so that I can get on with the quilt tomorrow since its taking up a lot of space in the sewing room. I've cut and seamed the fleece ready to attach to the quilt top so I just have to get the two sitting nicely together, put my walking foot on the machine and set off. Once the two are attached and one side of the binding is on, I can just keep the quilt in a box and work on hand sewing the second side of the binding down as and when I have time, Its a relaxing task, ideal for late at night when I get sat down after my chores or I am too tired to sew on the machine safely.
I am planning to spend the next few weeks getting some of my chores out of the way in the evenings and at weekends, possibly including some decorating, so sewing time will be reduced markedly, but it will be worth it to be able to relax (and sew a lot) during my annual two week break from work, instead of spending my holiday running about doing chores like I normally do.

The muslin sounds very frustrating indeed.
