Wardrobe in a Week is done....

....well, sort of. I've completed the four items but I am not entirely happy with the way the spotted top (left hand picture) works with the dress. It does go, but I don't love it the way I do the other two tops. I did intend to make a blouse in purple and grey satin to replace the top but when I played dress up with the dress and various items in the wardrobe, I didn't like the way the convertible collar on the blouse pattern I was planning to use looked with the dress. I tried on a shirt style with a collar on a band and liked that very much more, but didn't like the baggy style of the shirt which rucked up inside the fitted dress and was uncomfortable. So, I altered the shirt I did like the body of (McCalls 5138) and added the collar and front band from the shirt style pattern (McCalls 8649 which is probably long out of print, its been used by three generations of women in my family). Not having a lot of confidence in my alterations skills, I am making it up in some blue self stripe cotton (which will work with the dress but I won't cry too hard if it all goes wrong) before going for the satin version. The main shirt pattern is the one I used for the satin floral shirt that I ripped the back out of because I had overfitted it. So, I also altered the back and the back darts to give me more room. I'd made this pattern twice, and made several muslins, and worn the two finished items several times, and yet only today did I notice that the back was smaller than the front and was stealing the fabric from the front to compensate for this. Surely I am not the only one that can suddenly wake up one morning with the realisation that my clothes don't fit, even after I've worn them in public, several times.

Congratultions on finishing. I like the spotted top but then I think it may be a bit more subdued in colour and not enough contrast for you.

The blouse I wore with my jumper is a RTW and it drives me mad with the amount of fabric that hangs out of the armholes once I started moving. I always wear hosiery and guess how I keep the shirt from ruching up LOL. Not a look that my DH appreciates, but unless I'm hit by the proverbial bus, no one else will know.

I still need to work on a TNT blouse, have a toile cut out, another garment to wait until after the WiaW.

They all look like nice combos to me, as the plaid reads as a solid, but you have to go with what you feel comfortable wearing.
I LOVE the fit of you in the dress - very nice indeed, and very current I've seen a few grey plaid dresses in the shops.

I like the combo with your spotted top very much. In fact, both your patterned tops look very lovely with the dress.
