Hmm. Either my pattern has shrunk, or I've eaten too much over Christmas. Actually, I suspect its a third option; I used a stretch poplin for the shorts, and the shorts are snug through the waist and hips. When I made the pattern up as trousers in non-stretch mens suiting wool, they were tight, tight, tight. I had to let out seams a bit, but couldn't let them out all that much thanks to my studious and thorough, clipping of the seams. So I have a pair of trousers that are, erm, snug. But I still like them. And I can wear them. But I can't pig out whilst wearing them IYKWIM. No photos as they aren't actually finished yet. I've still got the hand sewing to do around the zipper, the waistband to catch down, and the button and button hole to do at the waistband.
I liked them so much, I spent this morning altering the pattern to make them less snug. I've added a quarter inch to each side seam waist to just below hip, plus added half an inch in length to the top of the trouser body. I had to attach the waistband at three eighths of an inch on the first pair otherwise there would have been a ripping sound when I sat down. Of course the pattern must be tested, so I've cut out another pair in grey poly (or maybe poly wool, I'm not sure) which was a gift from RuthieK when she cleared her stash cupboard out earlier this year.
Whilst I was crawling around on the floor with scissors and pins, I also cut out a narrow leg trouser pattern. I couldn't quite squeeze both pairs from the grey fabric, so these are black with red pinstripes. I have made the pattern up once but the trousers tend to wander downwards over the day and a drooping crotch is not a comfortable thing. I think they just need a bit taking in on the waistband so they can't wander. I've cut them with the original pattern though, just in case the problem with the first trousers really was caused by too many chocolates. I've designed a different pocket for them, with zippers, but until I can get into town to get zippers I can't say if the design will work or not. I will add belt loops to this pair so they can be safely anchored at my waist and can wander no more. Also gives me a good excuse to buy a red belt.

Yes buy a red belt! The whole trousers thing is annoying but you will be victorious.
