Marfy and Burda get married

I was supposed to be cutting out two pairs of Burda TNT trousers for my SWAP today. One narrow leg pair and one wide leg pair. Both in pinstripes, but different colourways. But somehow the trousers weren't really making me happy. They both seemed a bit boring and lacking those little details that raise a garment from the mundane to the interesting. So out came the Marfy catalogues. I found a lovely pocket treatment for the narrow leg trouser pattern and remembered that when I had made my bermuda shorts in the summer, I had really loved the pocket detailing on them. And so was born the marriage of BWOF 08/08 No. 105, wide legged trousers, and Marfy 1912, Bermuda Shorts. Above you can see them in the courting phase. Half an hour later, the two had been pronounced married after a short ceremony involving a propelling pencil, some tissue paper and a fashion ruler.
I lined them up with the grainlines parallel, pinned them together on the grainline and traced the legs and crotch extension from the Burda. The crotch curves on Burda and Marfy are scarily similar but this particular Burda pattern has a slightly longer crotch extension, which I kept as the shorts are a little snug. Fine for shorts, less so for work trousers. I drew the majority of the side seams in from the Burda, just smoothing everything out so that all the pocket pieces and the yoke would fit from the Marfy pattern. The shaped fly on the Marfy was retained. The back looks short compared to the Burda because of the yoke, which I didn't alter so its not on the photograph.
I am not entirely sure if this is going to work out or not, but nothing ventured, nothing gained. Hopefully tomorrow I will manage to get these cut out, and get the pockets designed for the narrow leg trousers.

Very interesting! Looking forward to how it all works out for them down the line.
