I find laceweight neckerchief sized shawls to be very useful. They fit into necklines, and drape well over sweaters. Sometimes the sock yarn shawlettes can be a little more bulky than I want for indoor wear. This came out bigger than I would normally knit a neckerchief but still very suitable for the purpose intended.
The yarn is 100% alpaca and I dyed it myself. I think it was a mix of acid dyes and wiltons, but I'm not totally sure. When I was last dying I split a 100g skein in half and dyed them different colours. 100g of laceweight makes a larger shawl than I usually want to wear and I don't necessarily want more than one shawl in a particular yarn colour so knowing I can safely dye up 50g skeins and they should be enough to produce a reasonable sized item, is very pleasing.
Please try to ignore the errors in the knitting. These are ALL operator error. The pattern is, as always, fabulously well written. However, I have been very tired lately and have lost my place in the charts several times, resulting in a less than perfect result. However, as I wear them draped around my neck, you tend not to see the errors as the shawl isn't stretched out flat.
The Monkey a Month for June is going to be a section of my blanket. I need to get this blanket done as it looks as though the quilt should be about ready for quilting by autumn at the rate I'm getting through the blocks and I can only cope with one super huge project laying around the house at once.
