Jacket Trim - Part Three

The trim is constructed and I've sewn one side of it to the jacket. It is crocheted from three strands of knitting yarn. Two strands of Noro Yuzen (on the left of the photo) which is Wool, Silk and Mohair, and one strand of Debbie Bliss Andes (on the right in the photo) which is baby alpaca and mulberry silk. The latter is unbelievably soft and squooshy. The Noro is neither of those things but the look of the two together is interesting.

And here is the trim, before it was put onto the jacket. Not the best of photos I admit. The colour is more accurate on the photo of the yarns above. But you get the idea.

I didn't want to waste any of these yarns, so after I'd wound them into centre pull balls, I took one of the strands from the outside of the ball of Noro, and one strand from the inside/centre pull to make my trim. This also meant that the tendency of the Noro to stripe very obviously could be disguised a bit. One strand started out greenish gold and one strand was burgundy/pink and my luck seemed to hold and they remained separate colours, more or less, throughout the trim. I took the plain yarn from the centre, using just the one strand. When I'd made about four metres of trim (more than I thought I needed) I left the hook in the yarns, put the yarn/hook/end of the trim into a bag and tied up the end to keep everything together and reduce tangling. When I'd sewn all the trim onto the jacket, I then knotted the trim, and cut it off to turn under. I was able to unravel the rest of the trim back onto the balls of yarn so that I didn't waste a single inch of my luxury yarns. I am going to turn the remaining yarn into a striped shawlette. (Now I bet that doesn't really come as a surprise to any of my regular readers).

Hopefully the jacket will be finished in a day or two but it may be the weekend before I can get a photo of it in daylight.

Your crochet trim is gorgeous, and who said you can't crochet, looking very good. Can't wait to see your final jacket.
