Well, my main machine has been liberated from the engineer today. She is still not fixed; however, on Friday, the shop owner informed me that the engineer has not yet attended the course which is mandatory if one is to fix these very complicated (and jolly expensive) machines. I wasn't going to leave her there a minute longer and brought her home this morning. Moral of the tale: if you know a good engineer, take the machine to them regardless of how inconvenient it is to get it there. Convenience and a notice saying they have a dealership for the brand isn't enough.
I set her up and sewed a seam on her and she seems fine, if a little greasy from excess oil.
I am sooo glad she is home. Is it mad to miss your sewing machine that much? I've wandered in and out of the sewing room for the last fortnight feeling bereft at her loss. I couldn't relax and enjoy my sewing with the back up machine.
Tomorrow, I shall be able to do my tailoring course homework.
Today, I spent the afternoon doing flat pattern alterations on two of the free Marfy patterns; the waistcoat and the tunic shirt. I've also double checked the measurements of my TNT hoodie as I have one version that fit great, and one that is too tight, but the pattern seems fine so I guess its just a fabric thing that's made one of them too tight.
The list of patterns I want to make up is getting to be way longer than the amount of time available to sew them up. And on that note, I am going to go in the sewing room and give my lovely machine a bit of a run and try and get the list of patterns to sew up down a bit.

Well glad you have your machine back, shame she's not fixed though :-(
Absolutely understand the sense of loss when a machine is gone.
Being without your machine is like being without you car! Several times I had wished that I had gone with a good repair instead of a convenient one.
Happy tailoring, and keep us up to date as always.
I'm glad you have your machine back and I know exactly how you feel. I used to keep a "back up", but it's just not the same as sewing with my very own Aunt Bernice. If Aunt Bernice is in the shop, I mostly wander around and poke at things instead of actually sewing.
I just cut things out like crazy. Last time I ended up with 2 shirts and a jacket all cut.
I'm glad you can get on with your jacket, but I'm a bit worried that whatever caused you to send her to hospital may reoccur!
I can't physically take my machine to get serviced, so I was forced into the hands of courier service to get it to the right place. It worked very well, and if you phone first to make sure they a)have time for you and b)have a clue for that machine I'd say to try either Pemberton's or Drummonds.
However... beware weekends. Couriers do not work weekends. Having picked it up from me on Friday it then sat in their depot all weekend before the next van took it onwards to Stirling to arrive on Tuesday! Silly me I thought courier meant they'd drive it straight there. Agh. It was just a service though and nowt serious was found so I had it back by the following Friday.
There was a reason we broke up with our old 'back-up' machine!!
Sew Forth!
