Here is my latest completed knitting project, a neck cowl. I finished it on Sunday night but for once I was a good girl and actually blocked the item properly, pinned to a towel in the airing cupboard, and its only just dry enough to photograph.
This pattern is Pretty Thing by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee and is available on Ravelry for download. The yarn is KnitPicks Imagination Sock in Damsel colourway and I used less than a skein, so this is a good pattern for using small but gorgeous skeins or part skeins up. I am not totally sure that the variagated yarn doesn't overshadow the lace pattern somewhat, but I can live with that. It was my first real lace pattern and I suspect there are a couple of errors, which are wonderfully well hidden in those variagated shades. I think its going to be soft and cosy to wear and will certainly get the chance to try it out tomorrow.
Its very cold here, with at least a foot of snow on the ground in places and more forecast. I am not certain the sewing spaniel will make it across the fields to work tomorrow morning if we get much more snow . It was up to her belly this morning and she had to leap through the snow rather than walking where the snow was deepest. She was a canine snowball by the time we finally arrived at work after multiple stops to de-ice her. Her long coat gets huge snow and ice balls all over it, particularly on her leg feathers and these have to be regularly broken off so she doesn't get too uncomfortable when walking. Having said all that, she adores the snow and loves to chase snowballs thrown for her. She can actually find the exact one in amongst the snow which always amazes me but does get a bit confused if I've not packed it tightly enough and it disintegrates when she bites it.

That looks stunning! I love the color and I bet it looks really good on you. I dont see how you can have the patience for knitting, so it looks perfect. Your projects really amaze me.
That is beautiful. I'll have to look at it on Rav. I'm loving all the cowls out now.
I can imagine the sewing spaniel on her way to work, my border collier jumps over the waves at the beach and the long grass so I can just imagine your spaniel doing the same thing. The fact that she can find the snow balls really made me laugh.
Your cowl looks very warm and cosy and I'm going to have to check out Ravelry. Seeing it doesn't get that cold here I haven't seen how they are worn, but we will be heading to the snow again this year (as always) and it looks like a good way to keep my neck warm which is always welcome.
Looks like a GREAT way to keep the neck warm, and very pretty too.
Nice!
I'd not wear a cowl - pulling over my head would mess up my perfect hairdo!! ;-P
Total salt shortage here, too much ice (and more snow on top). Not been out in it yet, but you can be sure I'll not be leaping over any drifts!!
