Ziggi Jacket - the first stages

Did the easy bits first.  The collar and the back section.

Here is the collar sitting on Twiggy.  It took a stupidly long time to make this collar but the time was worth it I think.  The little bit of trimming on the undercollar did indeed make it lie nice and obediently out of sight, and the fabric presses really well.  I had to do the top stitching twice.  The first time I went too close to the edge and it looked nasty so I had to pick it all out.  I had originally used normal thread in the bobbin but it sank in quite badly so chose to hand wind the heavier thread on the bobbin for the second attempt and that looks much nicer and means I can wear the collar up if I choose.

And this is the back section.  The pieces went together really nicely and the fabric is a delight to sew.  The side back pieces do seem to extend three eighths of an inch below the edge of the back facing rather than being flush at the hem.  I followed the instructions which said to match the notches and this is how it came out. I assume its correct and relates in some way to the installation of the lining using the bagging method since both sides did the same thing and the amount of extra is the seam allowance depth.

So far I'm quite pleased with the jacket.  I made the zip pockets last weekend but still need to take photos.  The battery in the camera died after I'd done these two photos.
