Pink Tee Shirt

Further attempts at whittling down the knit stash were made today.  I've cut out three items, and finished one of them as well as altering the zebra print cowl top.

This Tee shirt is actually one of two tops cut from the same fabric today.  Its a rayon jersey from my local quality fabric shop that has been marinading in my stash for some time.  Its lovely and soft and I'm told quite warm (mum got some and actually got around to making hers up because she doesn't stash things).

I used my self drafted tee pattern with the scoop neck front and just folded up the sleeve piece until I could fit it onto the fabric.  The length came out well despite the rather haphazard layout decisions.  The sleeve and bottom hem are currently stuck up with SteamASeam.  I'll probably cover hem them in due course but will finish all the knit tops then do battle with the cover hemming all at once, rather than switching back and forth between overlock and coverhem.  The neckline has a self finish.  I think you'd call it a binding.  Its circle of self fabric, cut shorter than the neckline, folded in half and applied stretched.  I like this kind of finish for necklines and find them reasonably simple to do on most fabrics and less likely to ruckle, stretch and misbehave.
I actually cut this one out thinking "bit of fabric left, I'll make another vest"  but in the end I thought it came out too well to be relegated to being a vest.

Also completed today, alterations for the cowl top.  I've made the body, armholes and sleeves narrower/smaller by serging a great big lump of fabric out of the underarm tapering to nothing at waist and elbow.  Its much neater now and the armhole doesn't end up getting tucked into my waistband!!  I've altered the pattern properly and cut a test run out to make sure it works.  This may or may not work as I've used a fabric with not very much stretch, and additionally, had to make the collar much shorter and the body a little shorter, due to lack of fabric.  But I have a cunning plan to fix the short body should it turn out to be too short.

This looks great - love the colours! I have yet to figure out the coverstitch on machine, but must make an effort to do so...J

Gorgeous color! It even looks really comfy. It looks cool, is it still warm there?

Cute little short sleeved top, should be handy as an underlayer.
