Strange Bird

This is the name of the pattern, not a description of my character.. though on reflection.... :)
The pattern is Strange Bird by Ashley Knowlton who is Wonk Knits on Ravelry. A Ravelry link for those who are on there: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/strange-bird The pattern uses only 50 grammes of sock weight yarn, so ideal for the skein that got left behind, or the skein that was so expensive you could only buy one of them. This was a left behind skein; Knitpicks Imagination hand painted, in colourway Damsel. A sock yarn with merino, alpaca and nylon in it. The colour is more accurate in the blocking shot than in the shot on Twiggy.
I had a full skein and a bit extra, the latter being the left over part, so to make the shawl larger, and use more of the yarn, I knit on a size larger needles. This resulted in what seems to me to be a HUGE shawl given the small quantity of yarn. I used my new blocking wires for the first time and it did make things a lot easier, though I don't think I've quite got the hang of it yet as I seem to have blocked it rather more aggressively than was necessary. I was so busy trying to make sure it was large enough, that I seem to have gone a bit overboard.
