Pretty, pretty wool

MMmmmmmm, yaaarrrnnnnnnnnn.
I received a Posh Yarn Random Club subscription for my Christmas gift and I will receive six skeins of yarn over the course of 2012, split into three shipments of two skeins each. One pair matching, one pair toning, and one pair contrasting. You can't choose colours and one of the most exciting parts of the club process for me was the likelihood of receiving yarn colours that were outside my usual choice, and comfort zone.

I received my matched pair last week, and here they are. They are Megan in Colourway Journeys End, and are 100% Blue Faced Leicester. I rarely buy green yarn, and rarely wear green (though I can wear dark greens and some shades of lime), so right off, I was out of the comfort zone. However, I really do love this yarn. Its springy and gorgeous and the photo does not do the subtle colourways justice. There are hints of brown and gold in there along with multiple subtle shades of foresty greens. Its like a walk in a sunlit wood on a summer's day.
These are destined to become a contiguous cardigan I think, though it will need a bit of thought to work out how best to get a whole cardigan out of two skeins. I would guess I will need to either crop the cardigan a little or have three quarter sleeves. We shall see. I won't be casting on quite yet as I have plans for a different, more challenging cardigan in the pipeline which I will be doing as a knitalong with my mum.
