Where do they go to?

Is there a place where tape measures and seam guides go to either die or to rest? And where do pins go to when they are not in the box/pincushion?

This week I have lost/mislaid/failed to keep track of:
TWO measuring tapes
Two seam guides
A quilting needle (I think maybe that is somewhere in the sofa arm though).
A crochet hook that I had seen on Friday last week, and thought "must put that away", was completely invisible (and still hasn't reappeared) on Sunday when I wanted to fix my knitting. I'd seen the hook several times in the last few weeks, and I know it is somewhere obvious that I go to regularly as I have moved it out of the way countless times, intending to put it away "later", which, like tomorrow, never comes.


I have also got to the stage where all my pins have sneaked away someplace and I actually don't have enough in the pincushion to continue working on my projects. I suspect the majority of the missing pins will turn up in the carpet, the hoover, or a forgotten project, but that doesn't help me much tonight.

Although I am always glad of an excuse to visit the sewing shop for stuff, I also know that as soon as I purchase a replacement, the old one will turn up.

Right, I'm off to look in the bath to see if the tape measure is having a wash.
