Marfy 1756 Jacket Finished

Yep, finally finished sewing the braid onto the Marfy jacket and took a couple of pictures. I am not completely happy with the end result. Perhaps that is due to having spent so long working on it. I do tend to like things a bit more once they have been in the cupboard a while. Part of the problem is the fabric, which is rubbing up badly even though I have not worn the jacket yet. Even the amount of handling it got during construction and sewing on the braid seems to have made it look a bit worn.

I am not happy with the way the front edges are either. The facings and fronts are battling to pull apart and even though I did understitch them well, and there is tacking underneath all that braid to help hold them nicely flat, the fronts don't look quite as good as I would have liked. Though perhaps the edges are not supposed to be as flat as I am used to with my thinner, close woven wools.
And, on a different note; the tape measure I lost turned up 24 hours after I bought two new ones.... and where did it turn up? In my reusable shopping bag. It was sitting in there mocking me and laughing in the supermarket when I was packing my veggies away at the checkout!! Got my own back though... I dropped a large baking potato on it so it couldn't get away again!

From the pictures, your jacket looks lovely! The trim compliments the colors of the fabric and it is applied so neat and straight. How did you do that so well? I also like the pocket flaps cut on the bias. An interesting, unexpected detail.
