Yes, I now have four projects on the go at once, and normally this would be stressing me out, but it isn't. I am loving all my projects but especially the new Marfy blouse I am making. It was going a bit wrong earlier in the week as it didn't look like the picture in the catalogue, but a breakthrough was hopefully made last night when I realised that the front and the neckline was just too wide for me. I will take an inch off each centre front and try again. I do need to make a new collar and band unit as this was too large but that is not a major issue as I have more than enough fabric left to cut those again. I also had to take in the back seam but overall there haven't been too many really difficult alterations... though I haven't yet tried to put in the sleeves.
Although the jacket muslin looked fine, when I got the actual jacket constructed, I had something odd going on with a little extra fabric wrinkling up next to the armhole. Also, the sleeves, although they look good, don't feel quite as comfortable as I think they should and I am not sure I got the armhole lying in quite the right position. With the shirt, taking that one inch out on each side, seemed, at least when pinned out last night, to move the armhole to a more comfortable place, although that won't be proven until I tackle the sleeves, which I haven't even started yet. I've read that once you work out your alterations in Marfy, you can reliably use them for all future patterns. If that is really true, then if my my shirt needs this alteration, then I suspect my jacket probably did too.
I guess you can go on and on trying for perfection and I certainly will, because it seems to be in my nature to do so, but along the way, some of the non-perfect items are pretty OK... that's how I feel about my jacket, which now has some of its braid on and two of its buttons and is beginning to look much more like the picture. Amazing how much difference a bit of braid can make. I can see so many flaws in all my sewing, but am trying to take a more sensible approach... ignore the flaws and focus on the positive.
As for the other two projects on my list. Both knitting. I timed my knitting on the sweater and am currently knitting at a quarter inch an hour. I daresay that will speed up a bit when I get to the stocking stitch section... currently slogging away at 1x1 rib which does seem to take longer. The fourth project is a Christmas present so I am not detailing it here. I will put that up after the present has gone to its recipient.
