Romy Cardigan

Finished this cardigan last week and got the buttons sewn on last night.  I'm really pleased with how this came out and at some point I'll actually get around to deciding on a pattern for the trousers/skirt that I plan to make from black and multi striped denim that was supposed to be going with the cardigan.

Pattern is Romy by Fallmasche.  I didn't get the gauge for the pattern so had to re-plan the stitch counts and try on as I went along, but overall it wasn't too difficult to achieve the fit I wanted.  The yarns are Jaeger Merino Aran in black (long, long out of production I think) and left overs from a previous sweater, now worn to death.  The pink is Araucania Aysen which I only had 200 grammes of and was a gift from a friend.  There were a few sticky moments when I wasn't sure if the pink yarn would last out, but in the end I had about twenty metres of the pink left and 60 grammes of the black which I thought was pretty good going in the circumstances.

Buttons are from stash and were the princely sum of 25 pence per card of four buttons from the rummage bins at a haberdashers in Leeds.  Exactly the right size for the button band (which came out a bit narrower than I'd planned).  I know the button bands aren't lying exactly smooth, but I've taken the photos before I blocked the cardigan so that will get fixed when it gets blocked.
The cardigan can be buttoned all the way up to make a roll over collar that is fabulous when its very cold.  The yarn is so lovely and soft (it has both silk and cashmere in the mixture) that I'm sure it will be a joy to wear next to the face.

The colour in the photo is slightly off due to being taken late at night under artificial lights.  Its less orange-pink and more blue-pink in real life.  The last version of this pattern I made, I wore it literally to death, and I've wanted to make another for ages so  I'm sure this one will get worn a lot.
