unblocked

In more ways than one.
There is no quilt block this week.  I did some prep work on Saturday but have not sewn any quilt pieces at all.

The pile of mending and alterations that was blocking access to the fabric stash is almost gone.  I am so pleased that I finally got that started.  My ability to procrastinate  about mending is immense.  If its a minor thing like a button missing I am reasonably quick but anything needing a bit more work can pile up for ages.  I also altered a pattern... turns out I already did the alterations though.... so now I have lengthened it twice and its almost mini dress length.  I have not cut it back down yet as I am playing with the idea of cuttting out a dress/tunic version to wear with a belt.  Not sure if it will work but worth a go.

There is one alteration still in progress, a silk top that needed major surgery, but the rest was all done by 8pm.  I then gained a new mending task  this morning when my knit top seam popped.  But I can fix that quite quickly .... the serger is even threaded with the correct colour thread.

Finally, and to me most importantly, after months when I sewed cos I felt I should, and weeks when I had no inspiration to sew garments,  on Saturday my mojo came back in a rush.  I now have a list of projects pinned on the wall again, the Marfy catalogue open at the next thing to trace, and four new patterns winging their way from Australia, hopefully more or less as we speak.  Late to the party as always, I am trying out Style Arc patterns.  They seem to have the smart but relaxed and comfy vibe that I have been searching for .  The thing I have struggled most with when transitioning to working from home has been my wardrobe.  So I am really hoping these patterns will work for me.   They are very popular on stitchers guild.... where I am working my way through the hundreds of pages of discussion to pick up hints on fit and ease etc.  So far what I read is very positive as it sounds like ease is less with these patterns than with the big 4  always something I look for in a pattern and one of the million reasons I love Marfy.
I got three skirts and one top, but if these work I may try the dresses and trousers and I really covet the Ziggi motorbike jacket... though where I would wear it I have no clue.

Alterations, meh...
they stack up until the pile falls over and gets in the way. Sewing is so much more fun than altering or repairing!

Let me know what you think of Stylearc drafting. They do have a good vibe to them, and they sure know how to market themselves to the sewing public!
Their vibe is definitely comfy and perfect for working from home. But, I'm biased and spoiled by my fave Marfy. Please let me know your opinion, am I just being a snob?
