However, blocking it out with T Pins, steam and brute force improved things somewhat and it helped that it was one of the smaller blocks, which needed a background strip adding to bring the block up to size before its border went on. I would imagine having both borders and background strips will stabilise it a bit, but they were still quite tricky to cut and the eagle eyed amongst you will note the slightly differing widths of band around the block that were needed to get it to square up.I don't think any of this will notice too much in the quilt itself though, as I think the pattern will speak for itself and draw the eye away from the wonky seams. I am very pleased with the way the stripes worked. Getting them that way took patience and a fair bit of work with the seam ripper in places. It was rather wasteful of fabric as I cut much larger pieces than usual so I could get the stripe placement exactly right. It actually worked out better than I anticipated and overall I'm quite pleased with the outcome.

Cool stripe placement!
The pattern definitely speaks for itself, I think its gorgeous. Nobody will notice anything but perfection, except you and your perfectionist eye…
Gorgeous!
