Square Within A Square

I am not totally sure if this is the right name for the block.  Though these things often have several names.

I drew this one out myself onto a foundation as its a very simple block, both to draw and to piece.  You start with the centre square and just piece around and around.  I was inspired by a wall quilt I saw on the Fabric Freedom Website, and by some blocks that were on the Jinny Beyer website as well.  The basic block was from the first site, the idea to use the stripe on the fabric came from the Jinny Beyer site, where several blocks have very interesting effects created by using fabrics with stripes or large motifs which have been carefully cut to whirl around or otherwise make another pattern.

The fabric is mainly the statement black, white and large floral stripe that was the inspiration for the quilt and I'm really pleased with how this one came out.  I managed to get the spotted stripe in exactly the right place and the chintz motifs are nearly all in the same place on the triangles that form that part of the design.   I might have another attempt at using the stripes creatively as I think there will be enough fabric left for at least one, possibly two more, blocks.  The smallest inner triangles are from another, toning fabric.
