This has been changed a bit from the original pattern. The pattern as written has pleated, arched insets on each side, a side zipper and the skirt is just below the knee. There is one set of darts both front and back.
My version is longer, has no insets, has a back seam with a walking vent and invisible zipper closure, and different dart placement. But apart from that, its exactly the same pattern. :) :)
The fabric is navy poly/wool blend and is very nice to work with, doesn't pick up fluff, doesn't crease and is washable. The lining is the same horrible stuff mentioned yesterday.
I have started to change shape slightly, presumably with age. Things that were previously flat are now rounded, things that were originally supposed to be rounded, are less so. There is a touch more padding all over than there was. For these reasons, I have changed the dart placement on the skirt. I actually made the skirt up without any darts, I didn't even mark the original placement. Instead, I put the skirt on the dressform and pinned the darts in, tacked them, then tried the skirt on myself to finalise the fit. I've put two darts on each side at the back as I am narrower back than front. The front darts were moved a little to the side, and I made them one and a half inches shorter. This allows more fabric over my little pot belly and hides it. The longer darts on the original version accentuate the problem, which is a small problem by most people's standards I admit. However, I am starting to consider ways in which my patterns should be altered to ensure they remain flattering and well fitting.
I'm quite pleased with the skirt. Its a nicely flattering length and works with a lot of things in my wardrobe, thanks to it being a very dark shade of navy with almost a black cast. I had to lighten the photos a bit so you could see some of the detail so the colour isn't showing true. I couldn't bring myself to go outside and stand in the snow to take the photos, so it was difficult to get a decent photo.

Very smart! You are sewing some lovely high end pieces here Jenni.
Gorgeous skirt and as Ruthie said wonderful high end garments.
I'm so glad I'm not alone with my little pot belly, my body is changing like yours and this takes a bit more thought where darts need to be placed.
