New Shoes

I went into York today looking for sensible, flat shoes I can walk to work in, which meet my long list of criteria for shoes of this nature. Criteria which are very exhaustive and seem to rule out most shoes that I like. This is because, as a rule, and given a free choice, I would not choose flat shoes at all because I love my heels. I generally like the style of flat shoes only when they do not fit me. I cannot wear either loafers or ballet flats, and struggle with sling backs. All are lovely styles which work well with both trousers and skirts. The sort of shoe I can wear, does not work well with skirts. And some of my criteria are not only highly specific, but also rather arbitrary; today I have ruled out shoes for having soles that were too smooth, and other shoes for having soles that were too textured. Several shoes were ruled out for being the wrong shade of navy. I tried on numerous ballet flats and loafers, on the basis that maybe these would be different, or my feet would have altered in shape, and they would suddenly remain on my feet, even though this has never yet happened in all the years I have been wearing adult shoes.

So, after an exhaustive search of York, this is what I came home with. The style is, a significant departure for me and I remain a little unsure about that. But lets face it, who couldn't love raspberry patent leather shoes? As you can see, the spaniel also likes them... doesn't it look as though she is about to step into them and walk away?

Dorothy Ruby slippers! Adorable (and just a teensy bit sparkly!)

I'm not one for flats either, but those have pizzaz.

I'm assuming you've already tried and rejected hotter's offering? My feet also do not like whatever I like but I have a pair of Dizzy in yellow that don't suck.

Sparkly pink/red shoes. Have you got knitting to go with?
