I am not doing so well with my eleven socks in 2011. I haven't yet failed to meet the target, but enthusiasm is waning somewhat. I have been knitting the current pair of socks for what feels like forever. It doesn't help that they are mens socks, and therefore bigger than those knitted for my own feet, and they are a dull grey, slightly variagated, but not with sufficient interest in the yarn to keep me guessing what colour will come up next. The recipient being quite conservative in nature, would not wear anything that was bright or unusual, so grey it is.
I have completed one sock, including unpicking and reknitting the heel because I messed up the length, and sock two has most of its heel done, as you can (almost) see. Hopefully I will get that done tonight and start on the leg, so I feel I am on the home straight. I am therefore, just about on target to finish the May socks by the end of June, leaving the need to complete a pair a month for the rest of the year. My friend's daughter just found out she is expecting her first child, so I might make some baby socks as my July socks.
For those who do enjoy the knitting side of things, soon there will be a Posh Yarn project to show you which I am incredibly pleased with. I can't tell you how much I am enjoying knitting this up and its at least partly the reason why the dull grey socks are taking so long to get finished.
I also have a gorgeous sweater pattern, sat with its yarn, on the coffee table, just waiting to be cast on.
So I am now going to go and get on with those dull grey socks instead of procrastinating on here, pleasant as that is.

I understand the lack of motivation to knit grey socks. And yes baby socks sounds like a great idea, they're small, they should be quick, they can be a pretty, pretty colour, and it c overs off a gift for the baby's parents no trouble. My sewing mojo's not all that present either, though I have played with fabric today a little.
Grey socks wouldn't motivated me at all. Love seeing your knitted pieces and can't wait to see your Posh Yarn project.
