Well, now there will only be two waterproof items. The very simple (two pieces plus waistband) skirt that I cut out and started in the cotton cambric, has bombed. It is absolutely impossible to sew this fabric in even a shallow curve without it puckering and twisting. Its a heavy fabric so the puckers look much worse than in a light fabric... I suppose if I had more experience/patience/stubbornness, I might have prevailed. I suppose its possible to sew any fabric properly if you apply yourself to doing so, and practice and try hard and stick to the matter in hand, concentrate, look things up in books, fiddle around until you prevail. But I didn't want to. So there is now five metres of coated cotton cambric in my bin.
Besides, the stripy shirt was calling my name quite loudly. So much so, that I've sewn the darts and the shoulder seams up. I do, however, have enough sense not to try sleeve plackets or collar applications, at this time of night. I also have enough sense not to make any comment whatsoever about shirts until they have been finished and worn. And even then, I've been known to speak too soon.

Waterproofing has to be tough stuff to work with. Good luck
