Experiment in Colour II

Voila, the outcome of the experiment.... well, the interim outcome I suppose as its not knitted up yet.
Once again my attempts to spin thin were somewhat thwarted.  My really skinny looking singles fluffed up a lot more than I expected when washed and my sock weight aim became a double knitting to aran weight reality... though still thinner than I've managed before on the wheel.

The yarn did come out close to how I envisaged.  However, its not quite how I wanted it thus providing further excuse for experimentation.  I had used colours that were close to each other in value in both plies, which meant that in places the yarn looks single coloured because I ended up with two colours that were super close in value next to each other, for example dark brown and dark purple together,  and they blended rather than providing a contrast.  So next time I think I'll split the fibre by colour value so I have a pale ply and an obviously darker one.  Also, I spun very long colour runs of each colour.  Which looks fine and I think will knit up stripy, but next time I'll probably try shorter runs of colour to see how that looks when knitted.

However, spinning has now halted for the moment as I have a birthday present to knit and a shawl to complete.
