It took me a while....

but I've spun up almost all the purple themed bag of fibre purchased from Wingham Wool works last year.  I do have a few small bits left of a few shades, but they are destined for a future attempt at blending fibres.
Here it all is in one place.  I've already blogged about the attempted gradient yarn which you can see at the back right in the photo.    This is destined to be a triangular or crescent shaped scarf to wear with my purple coat.   The two tiny skeins at the front were spun on my  Turkish Spindle.  They are a heavy lace weight or a light sock weight I think and two ply.   They were only practice runs to get the hang of the spindle and there isn't enough to do anything much with those.

The larger plain colour skein is also a two ply and its about light to normal sock weight but as its two ply its not a particularly round yarn and I think underplied so its a bit floppy and soft.  I have seen a pattern in one of mum's books for a really cute pair of wristlets with frilled cuffs and I'm very tempted to make a pair with this yarn.  Whether I have enough for both wristlets, or whether I'd end up with a single wristlet, or half a  wristlet, I am not too sure.  :)  Maybe I can somehow incorporate the small practice skeins into the wristlets to eke out the yarn.

The two tweedy centre pull balls are cable plied. This was my first attempt at cable plying and I was pleased with the outcome though the smaller ball came out slightly closer to what I was expecting than the larger ball did.  Both came out around sport to double knit and seem likely to be knittable and wearable.  I calculate I have about 120 metres of yarn in the larger ball which will hopefully be enough for a hat or a cowl.
I've included a close up shot of the larger chain plied ball, and a super close up shot (slightly out of focus unfortunately) of the chain plied yarn so you can see the structure.  Its a four ply yarn.  In this case, each of the four plies was a different colour which gave quite a nice effect once all the four colours were plied together.  I weighed my fibre on a diet scale to make sure each colour would be more or less the same length and that did work reasonably well.  I'm using the same process of weighing the fibre, for my next spinning project, which is already on the spindle.
