Style Arc Belinda top

Despite saying I wouldn't have time to sew this up,  magically found time once I saw the new free pattern for August, the Poppy zip up top.  I had to have it and  I  have a very long wish list at Style Arc and at the very top of it is the Ziggi  motorbike jacket, and  Mindi zip up skirt.  I have been impressed with the fit so far with these patterns so these three patterns are on their way to me as I write.

When I made  up the Belinda top a few weeks ago in purple poly type  knit it was too large so I cut the seam allowances off the pattern, cut the top out in a black mystery knit remnant and   then it sat for a week or so waiting to be sewn up.  Mum's accident meant it stayed there for a bit longer than planned but I couldn't really order more patterns and not sew up this one, so I whipped this up on mum's overlocker last Sunday afternoon.

I am really pleased with this now I have taken it in.   I like the fit much better now and on this basis, I ordered the next size down for the Ziggi and Poppy.   I suspect I may need to let the back out slightly on those two, but I'd rather do that than struggle to take excess width out of the front, particularly with the Ziggi which I think is going to challenge my sewing skills considerably (which is no bad thing really, but I don't need to make things harder than necessary).

Returning to the Belinda top.  If the photo shows up properly, you will see that I have a much neater fit on this version.  Unfortunately I am struggling to get photos onto my blog whilst at mums as I only have my tablet available and its not keen to upload the photos the way it should.

I got the photos onto Pattern Review though, and linked from there which I hope will work.  I am also typing on a very temperamental bluetooth keyboard so blogging is currently way harder than it should be and posts may be a little shorter than normal for this reason.

I love the high back neck and cute shrug effect and its a very comfortable top.  I wore it the day after I made it and it was lovely and soft. It also washed well and needed little ironing... what's not to love about that?  I think I'll be making a couple more of these, but most likely with a long sleeve. This one had to have shorter sleeves due to a fabric shortage.  A review of the top is on Pattern Review and this has a bit more detail than this post.  Though sadly not much better photos as black is not the easiest to photograph and I couldn't figure out how to lighten the photos to show the detail.. it has taken me a week to get the photos onto the blog and get the review together so I'm a bit behind hand.  I've actually sewn two more items this weekend....posts on those coming soon... or as soon as the flipping tablet will allow them to anyway.
