Sweater parade

Well, last week's grand scheme to sew a knit top per night and feel all productive lasted until.... Tuesday.
It started out well, with all the sweaters cut out in one production line on Sunday afternoon.  This ensured maximum fabric usage and resulted in five sweaters from 4.5 metres of fabric.

Continued well into Sunday evening as two and a bit sweaters were constructed up to cover hem stage.

Monday saw the coverhemming done on all the areas of garments that needed grey thread.  R... your thread matching advice has started to stick.  :) and total completion of two sweaters....

Following the guiding notes given to me by R, I was more successful than usual with the coverhemming task.  I hemmed the pieces flat, as far as possible, which creates a pile of part finished things if you have a dual overlock/cover hemmer, as I do.  I began to see why people said that dual machines could be a bit annoying.  Anyway.  Whilst not perfect, the results were better than they are with my usual method.

Work resumed last night, and the sweater parade, is now a sort of peaceful gathering of warm and lovely items to keep out the November weather.

Four of the tops are made from my self drafted knit top block, .... I have multiple fronts with varied necklines traced out and just use them interchangably with the same back and sleeves.  The fifth top, the one with the blue body and grey sleeves, is a Santa Monica Tee.  The top shown second from top is actually a rather nice blue, as is the body of the Santa Monica Tee,  but the camera thought it was purple for some reason.

I am currently trying to decide if I'm going to do the Stitchers Guild SWAP this year.  Whilst work is totally full on, I am hoping it will calm down enough to allow some sewing in the new year, so plans are vaguely swirling around, but nothing concrete yet... though a turquoise boiled wool jacket seems to have found its way into most of my plans and seems determined to get in on the action, should there be any.  The rules this year are quite flexible and seem as though they will allow me to fit quite a few things into the plan which were already on the ever expanding list of garments I want or need.   In that respect, doing the contest would probably be a helpful way to prioritise items on said ever expanding list, keep me on track, and sew down the stash... the SWAP plan would be entirely from stash.
