Geology - Another knitalong

A new VeryBusyMonkey knitalong started on Ravelry on Monday, this one is confined to her Elements collection of four shawls which was recently published.  I only bought one of the four patterns from this collection, the Geology shawl... so that is clearly the one I am going to be tackling for the knitalong.

I'm using Posh Yarn Pamela, which has 5% stellina sparkle fibre, in colourway "Lap of the gods".  I also have some variagated yarn in autumn colours left from some socks which I may use for the last section of the shawl.

This is it, as far as its got... which isn't very far, though not bad going for an hour and a half of knitting (part of that was unpicking the first attempt when I missed a yarn over somewhere).

This pattern has been hugely popular for the knitalong and loads of people are tackling it, some are using different colours for the different stitch pattern bands.  I may well do this for a second version, as I do like the idea.  However, my stash is a bit inaccessible at present due to my workroom being transformed into a storage area for furniture whilst I decorated, and I've not really got that sorted out enough to want to spend time with the yarn spread all over the floor auditioning colours for a striped version.  I stored the current knitting, and the yarn/needles and pattern, for this shawl, in my bedroom where I could find them again easily.  Priorities see.  :)

And talking of the current knitting, the Swirl cardigan is taking shape now.  Here it is photographed just over a week ago;

Its a touch larger than this now, but not much as my entire weekend was taken up with decorating virtually the entire bottom floor of my house, plus the staircase and landing area...........why anyone would choose to decorate quite so much of a house in one go... in one weekend, I don't know.  I shan't be attempting this feat of stupidity again any time soon, though I am pleased with the end result  so it was worth the tiredness, mess, backache, and lingering odour of paint.  And I have two feature walls in what Dulux names Sumptious Plum; a rather fine dark pinkish purplish red, which I am very pleased with.

Shawl and cardigan looking good. Ironically sounds like your knitting and decorating match each other!
