My machine returned to me on Monday. She has had a very thorough overhaul and is startlingly clean inside. She's had a service and her timing altered as it was out a bit. She has also had the fault with the embroidery sensor fixed. She is purring along beautifully and I spent Monday night bonding with her over a pair of trousers that needed hemming and four attempts at putting in a zip. Yes, FOUR attempts at putting in a centred zipper on the Marfy denim skirt. I should point out that I do know how to do a centred zipper. But you can't tell this from the end result as you can see. I may have to go for a fifth attempt. But not until the weekend. Tired people and zippers that are in the front of skirts as design features do not mix. I do, however, have high hopes of the pattern itself. The match on the seams for the panels on this version are ever so, ever so slightly off, but I think that may be my perfectionist side showing as I doubt anyone will get close enough to really notice. I keep telling myself this is only the test run, though I do think its going to be one of those skirts that I will want to make several of. I added two inches to the length because I wanted to be quite sure I had enough hem. When I tried the tacked version on to fit it, it was rather longer than the model shows. However, I rather liked the longer length and may leave it that way, on this version at least.

don't worry, sewing pixies are just messing with you for missing your good machine.
My overlocker is still away - short estimate for at least another week :(
