marfy 1913

This is the same pattern as the black/blue and white "eye" print top I made last year. I wanted to see if it would work in a knit, and I think it was quite a successful experiment. I think I should have taken a larger seam allowance at the side seams to take account of the stretch of the knit (though its not super stretchy actually) as the armholes are slightly gappier than is ideal. However, I am quite pleased with how this came out and I love the colour. I also tried a second Marfy top in a knit last week but that one was a disaster and won't be seeing the light of day. However, I know what I did wrong so I am sure a second attempt will be made and hopefully that one will be suitable to be seen in public.
Tomorrow I am going to tackle the dress again and see if I can work out what it is that isn't making me happy. Its grown on me a bit this week, and I've been considering all the various comments that were made about it, both here and on the blog. I do want to get this dress pattern to work, and when I tried Rebecca's suggestion of wearing a jacket to break up the head to toe colour that did help a bit, though I still think its not fitting quite right and needs a tweak or two. Tomorrow I am also going to tackle the fitting of a dress for my mum. She made up the pattern last year but it didn't make her happy so we are going to have another attempt at that as well.

Actually that's pretty nice and a really good use of the fabric piece. It might need the sides taking in a smidge and be nice tucked in.
