As promised, I've made this gilet pattern again, but with sleeves. I actually made this, and photographed it, two weeks ago, but various time and technology issues conspired to delay this post. However, I can confirm the comfort level of this garment... I've worn it loads since I made it. Its a much lighter weight fleece than I've used before, and has a slight stretch, which made the pockets somewhat of a challenge, and oddly, the hem was also difficult. I used the same method to hem the bottom as last time, cotton binding made from the same fabric as the hood lining. However, the hem binding and the stretch fabric had a bit of a falling out, and the result is a less than neat hem, that shows a bit to the right side. The zipper was put in flat/centred before the side seams were sewn, and then trimmed with binding, sewn by hand, to cover the zip neatly from the inside.
Sleeves are from a free Marfy jacket pattern. I've used this sleeve before for another FrankenPattern, and they went in well. I had hardly anything to ease in on this version and whilst the wrist could perhaps be narrowed slightly for this particular garment type, overall I was very pleased. Sleeves that go in first time with no faffing about always please me.
The hood lining, pocket linings and bindings are all made from a remnant of cotton print from my last trip to Abhahkan.
I have the same fleece fabric in bright pink and am considering making a fully lined version. I have a trip to Abhakhan coming up tomorrow so may look for something with a bit of stretch to make a lining as I have nothing suitable in stash. I rather fancy a pink animal print of some sort, though a black and white animal print might also work too.

Wow, what a great jacket and it looks fabulous with the added sleeves! I couldn't find this pattern on the Marfy website, do you know if it is still available? The shaping, pockets and hood are beautifully designed. Enjoy wearing your new jacket!
The jacket is still available I think but you need to contact Marfy as only a fraction of the patterns are on the website... more are in the catalogue than are on the website.
Very very nice! Looks great, and I am very impressed with the zipper insertion, it never occurred to me to do it before the side seams.
That looks so perfect! love the way that you can swap out pieces between patterns. Without too much trouble.
Thanks Jenni, I just sent off an email to Marfy. I appreciate your reply :)
