That's enough really...

Or why I am turning into my mother.

I grew up unable to find clothes to fit.  The idea of having a wardrobe so full that I didn't need more was some sort of dream that I never thought I could attain.  When I started to have success in making clothes that fitted I was ecstatic and dreamed of a super huge wardrobe of items so I could be in a different outfit almost every day.

My mother on the other hand, is a standard size and would go into shops, try on something lovely, it would fit, and she would say "I don't need it, I have enough of [insert item here]" and walk away.  She has even been known to refuse to go to a fabric shop because "I don't need anything".  Every time she did this I used to have a little strop inside my head,  jumping up and down and shouting about how NO ONE has enough clothes/fabric.  Its not actually possible.

Turns out, I am turning into my mother.  Because yesterday I realised "I have enough clothes.  I don't need anything."

I'm kind of thinking that I should be having that strop inside my head right about now.

Likewise, I seem to have knitted my own bodyweight in sweaters and cardigans and don't really need any more of them either.   And have run out of storage space for them.

So, I figured since I don't HAVE to make anything, I will take the opportunity to make things just because I can, even if I have no purpose in mind for them.  In that vein, I have started a circular shawl.  Just because the pattern was fabulous, and I wanted to knit it.  I have absolutely no clue AT ALL what I am going to do with it when I've made it.  But I am very much enjoying knitting it and having great trouble putting it down in order to do tedious things like eat, sleep and go to work.

Enough clothes? have you been hit on the head? Then I must ask the question, how frequently do you wear a particular pair of pants or shirt? Do you go a couple of weeks without wearing a favorite, or do you have just enough for a weekly rotation?

You have brought up an interesting topic, what is enough?

so now you have time on your hands I could do with some new trousers... I'd be no trouble to fit... well not much. No really, just lumps and bumps and short legs and um...oh yeah and you'll be good for travelling to me for the fittings won't you?

See you Saturday ;-P
